Thank you for visiting the Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Stamp Campaign Website. The original purpose for the site was to help procure a United States Postage Stamp honoring GySgt. John Basilone while supporting the Chesty Puller Stamp Campaign. This mission was accomplished. To view more information about this stamp collection, visit the USPS website.
Today, the site houses for historical purposes all efforts that went into both Campaigns. In addition, there are many links relating to events honoring John Basilone. We encourage visitors to click on the Semper Fi Fund page and do all they can to support our wounded service members and their families.
Please check back often as there will be many updates including those on the GySgt.John Basilone Award for Courage and Commitment. The Award is presented annually on 19 February.
LATEST INFORMATION
03 March 2008: Gunnery Sergeant Edward D. Parsons is the 2008 recipient for the GySgt John Basilone Award for Courage and Commitment.
GySgt Parsons has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan and has been singled out with many commendations of merit for exposing himself to enemy fire with blatant disregard for his own safety in an effort to secure the safety of Marines.

31 July 2007: Scholarship is now attached to the Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Award for Courage and Commitment.
Before deploying to Iwo Jima, Gunny Basilone married Marine Sergeant Lena Riggi. Their hope for the future was to raise a large family, similar to the families in which they had grown up in. However, this dream was never realized because Gunny Basilone lost his life on Iwo Jima 19 February 1945.
Thus, as a way to honor the Basilones' loss of their dream and because schooling for young John Basilone was a constant struggle, the Basilone Award Committee has applied for and received a 501[c][3] charity status from the Internal Revenue Service. The EIN # is 30-0404212
It is the hope and goal of the Basilone Award Committee that a $1000.00 Scholarship will be made available to every recipient of the Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Award for Courage and Commitment [past, present and future].
This scholarship may be used toward acquiring an Associate, Bachelor, Masters, PhD degree and/or a Trade Certification.
