This Resolution urges the United States Post Office to issue a stamp honoring Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone. I believe that it is time that we honor American Heroes on U.S. Postage Stamps and not just cartoon characters.

Gunnery Sergeant Basilone stands out among American Heroes; after receiving the Medal of Honor he requested to return to the front and thus died valiantly on Iwo Jima. GySgt Basilone exemplifies the values of the United States Marine Corps and is a moment in American History which should be honored and preserved.
