Lawmakers want stamp honoring New Jersey native and WWII hero John Basilone

Paterson - U.S. Senator Jon Corzine (D-NJ) and U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-8th) will hold a press conference Wednesday, April 16th at 11:15am at the Belleville Veterans Memorial to announce their plans to reintroduce legislation calling on the United States Postal Service to issue a commemorative postage stamp honoring Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone. Basilone, a U.S. Marine raised in Raritan, New Jersey, is the only person in American history to be awarded both the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. He was awarded for his service in Pacific Theater during World War II.
